NXP and HID Global create mobile access control solutions for NFC phones

NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI), a trusted provider of security identification solutions, recently announced the collaboration with HID Global to launch an NFC solution that supports the current universal mobile access control system. Based on the existing non-contact standards, NFC can realize safe and convenient information exchange between devices within a short distance, which is ideal for simple operation of mobile access control applications.

HID Global and NXP jointly created the card access control system market. As NFC has gradually developed into a standard feature for mobile phones, the two companies are working together to integrate access control solutions into NFC technology and promote them to mobile phones.

Nowadays, contactless cards for employees entering company buildings and parking lots can transfer digital access certificates to NFC-enabled mobile phones. The certificate is stored in the NXP embedded security element in the mobile phone and is fully compatible with currently widely used access control card readers and systems. As NFC smart phones are increasingly used in access control, consumers and businesses will be able to obtain the same high level of security and more convenience from mobile phones.

In addition, the jointly developed solution also uses the leading card reader technology from NXP and HID Global in the access control infrastructure. The solution supports existing HID Global card readers and card readers based on the company's iCLASS SIO (iCLASS SE) platform. The iCLASS SIO (iCLASS SE) platform supports mobile access control based on digital certificates, thereby promoting access control technology beyond traditional cards and card readers. The HID iCLASS SE card reader will use NXP's new CLRC663 card reader IC, which fully supports 13.56 MHz smart cards that comply with the ISO14443 standard, including MIFARE DESFIRE EV1.

To ensure the highest compatibility, the new mobile access management solution jointly launched by NXP and HID Global is not only backward compatible with HID Global iCLASS card readers, but also forward compatible with HID Global ’s Trusted IdenTIty Platform (TIP) ecosystem. Existing HID customers can support NFC mobile phones by upgrading some iCLASS implementation methods without replacing the installed card reader. NXP ’s technology supports multiple application management, such as payment, e-government, access management, and ticketing, etc., all of which can be done through a single microcontroller. It not only ensures the safety and convenience of identification, but also does not affect safety, performance and design efficiency.

Dr. Selva Selvaratnam, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of HID Global, said: "NXP has made a significant contribution to promoting the widespread popularity of NFC technology among mobile phone manufacturers and developers. Through cooperation, the application can be installed immediately to a large number of Mobile phones. We are very excited to cooperate with NXP and integrate their respective leading advantages in the access control market to launch the most advanced solutions. "

Henri Ardevol, vice president of NXP Semiconductors and general manager of the Security Trading Division, said: "We are very pleased to work with HID Global to jointly develop this new solution. As major companies continue to increase in mobile technology and security infrastructure The investment intensity and the cooperation between the two parties will bring real value and convenience to global customers. In addition, the combination of HID Global's iCLASS SE card reader and NXP's MIFARE DESFire and NFC technology can effectively improve the interoperability of access management and accelerate The popularity of NFC applications in enterprises. "

technical details

The mobile access control solution jointly developed by NXP and HID Global is based on NXP ’s PN65 series of NFC ICs, and is specifically designed for low-power, high-performance communications and tamper-resistant secure data storage applications. The PN65 is equipped with NXP ’s market-leading high-performance NFC radio controller PN544 and an embedded secure element (eSE). eSE integrates NXP ’s advanced SmartMX technology, which is widely used in billions of bank cards, e-passports and eID cards, tickets, and other cards and certificates around the world. NXP IC will support HID Global ’s Secure IdenTIty Object (SIO) technology for portable certificate provision, storage and lifecycle management, as well as HID ’s Trusted IdenTIty Platform (TIP) platform for endpoint management and security. HID's SIO brings a new identity-based data structure that is standards-based, technology-independent, and very flexible, enabling smart card technology to be applied to many portable platforms including NFC phones. The SIO data structure takes security, portability and performance to a new level, allowing facilities and security managers to remotely manage the provision of certificates on designated mobile devices. At the same time, the data structure also supports the dynamic increase of the security level, and through simple firmware upgrades, future changes in demand can be resolved.

Litecoin Mining Machine

Litecoin is an online currency based on peer-to-peer technology and is an open source software project under the MIT/X11 license. It can help users make instant payments to anyone in the world [2]. Litecoin was designed and programmed by a programmer (Li Qiwei) who used to work at Google, and launched on January 9, 2011. Litecoin is an improved digital currency inspired by Bitcoin. The technical principle of Litecoin is the same as that of Bitcoin. It also adopts a decentralized architecture, without any central authority control, and the issuance of new coins and the transfer of transactions and payments are based on open source encryption algorithms, etc. These are all imitated the design principle of Bitcoin. However, Litecoin tries its best to improve the shortcomings that Bitcoin has shown before, such as too slow transaction confirmation, small total cap, the emergence of large mining pools caused by proof-of-work mechanism and so on, SHA256 algorithm [1].

Litecoin, which aims to improve Bitcoin, has three significant differences. First, the Litecoin network can process a block every 2.5 minutes instead of 10, thus providing faster transaction confirmation. Second, the Litecoin network is expected to produce 84 million litecoins, four times the amount of money issued on the Bitcoin network. Each litecoin is divided into 100 million smaller units, defined by eight decimal places.
