Accelerating cross-strait promotion of common standards in the LED industry

On June 18th, Taipei International Photoelectricity Week was formally launched. Wang Binglong, Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Optoelectronics Industry Association (TOSIA), and Jian Fengren, Director of Taiwan's LED Lighting Industry Alliance (TLLIA), all led the alliance to meet with Taiwanese exhibitors. Representatives of the land-based LED lighting industry, both sides are discussing the common standard of lighting between the LED light source and electrical bridges.

Although LED lighting still has some way to go to complete the standard setting, both sides of the Taiwan Strait industry are unwilling to become followers of European and American plants in the era of LED lighting. They are interested in setting up the standard of “Zhonghua Brand” to lead the market consensus and have formed among the relevant alliance members. Including the LED factory Hongqi, Fuyuan, Jingdian, New Century, Guangbao Branch, Yiguang, Lunda, Howard and other LED industry, in addition, in the lighting plant also has a representative of traditional lighting manufacturers such as CLP.

The LED lighting industry in both Taiwan and the Mainland is facing fierce competition due to oversupply of the industry. However, both sides have the expectation that the LED lighting market that is about to take off and grow will have the consensus of both sides to formulate standards and promote it to the world.

LED manufacturers and lighting companies across the Taiwan Strait think that in the era of LED lighting, there is a great chance to catch up with major manufacturers in Europe and the United States. Therefore, they have established industrial alliances to promote the development of standards.

TOSIA currently promotes the Spindle Project on both sides of the Taiwan Strait with "LED Common Standards and LED Lighting Pilots."

In view of the differences in standards and regulations across the continent, the content must be clarified. In recent years, Taiwan has accelerated the promotion of common standards for LED across the Taiwan Strait. It seeks to standardize products to facilitate product interoperability and hopes to win the entry barrier for Taiwanese companies to enter the mainland market.

TOSIA and the mainland's CSA have already carried out 3 draft standards for “self-rectifying LED lamp performance, grille lamp GT1 lamp caps, and cold-area LED road lighting products”. During the collaborative discussion on the relevant LED lighting interface specifications, this year will have Specific results show.

At the current stage of cross-strait standardization, the theme of “bulb lights, street lights, and grille lights” is the theme. In the pilot section, the signing of the letter of intent for cooperation in the pilot demonstration project of LED lighting between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait through the cross-strait LED industry bridge exchange meeting.

It is understood that from 2010 until the end of this year, four projects have been promoted and planned for the "Xiamen LED Street Lighting, Guangzhou Metro Lighting Improvement Project, Harbin LED Lighting, and Shanxi HV/ACLED Application Lighting."

TLLIA yesterday also demonstrated the common lighting specifications introduced by the members of the alliance. Jian Feng Ren pointed out that before the standard, the specifications will be the tacit agreement in the industry before the standard is promoted.
