Wall Street Journal Joint Construction Company releases virtual reality news reading app

The recently completed apartment building of the construction company Michaelis Boyd exists only in a virtual reality (VR) news app. Using the Wall Street Journal app, readers can see and interact with publishers' news content from a virtual reality room in a New York apartment.

The Innovation Center of the Wall Street Journal commissioned Michaelis Boyd to design such a VR room where readers can view news, market reports and videos through Google's Daydream platform.

The only requirement for VR room design is to install an interactive screen on one of the walls, through which readers can view news feeds and interact.

Michael Michael, co-founder of Michaelis Boyd, told the media: "In a peripheral environment outside of the screen we designed, users can achieve 360-degree full interaction through VR heads."

“The VR space we created combines many of the architectural elements of our previously designed residential projects, and the New York skyline has become a backdrop for VR rooms.”

Before selecting the decorative materials and furniture, the architect first designed the plane frame for the VR room, and then the team of the Wall Street Journal Innovation Center built the VR room according to the design details.

When designing a VR room, the design team seemed to treat it as an ordinary building project. The Battersea Power StaTIon in the VR room provides an entry point for the design, and the design team designed the interior of the VR room with reference to an outstanding London venue they had previously designed.

They also selected design elements from other residential and commercial projects they had previously designed, including the Soho House Club and the Groucho Club. The New York skyline can be seen through a large mirror, which is the location of the Wall Street Journal base.

Nowadays, people are discussing the important role of virtual reality in architecture and design. IVR NaTIon visual designer Olivier Demangel said that VR technology "will bring more excitement than cocaine."

These predictions are now becoming a reality, using Google's TIlt Brush, designers can walk sketches in 3D sketches.

Michaelis said: "I think VR technology has great potential, VR architecture will also be more and more brilliant - as long as the information screen is working properly. VR technology gives us a new virtual space, bringing users near real Feeling."

“Although VR architectural design is still in its infancy, it will play a huge role in the future. With VR technology, we can let customers walk in virtual rooms, feel realistic, show engineering samples to customers, and eliminate customer's existence of design. A number of misunderstandings give customers a clear understanding of how the building looks."
