According to The Verge quoted by Bloomberg, Apple is building its own Snapchat app. The app, which is under development, is said to allow iPhone users to take video and add various filter effects or scribbles, similar in form to Snapchat. Mark Gurman, who is in charge of the report, said the app can be operated with one hand most of the time, and the video takes less than a minute from being shot, editing to uploading. Prototypes from in-house application design show that the app includes an Instagram-like rectangular box for video, as well as a means for users to send videos to other contacts or social media.
Bloomberg also said that the team responsible for building this new application had previously worked for Final Cut Pro and the iMovie project, and Apple plans to launch the app in 2017, in line with the new social networking features that appear on the iPhone. Apple has said that the company is considering adding more social networking integration features in iOS to further enhance the experience of sharing data with users from other users around the world. Features that have been introduced include point of interest recommendations, contacts, and location-based applications, but there are reports that Apple will further expand its capabilities. In this regard, Bloomberg pointed out that the above speculation may not become a reality, because the approval of such functions is handled by a dedicated team within the company, the purpose is to protect user privacy, prevent excessive product contact and expose relevant user data.
It's unclear whether Apple plans to mention or announce relevant social networking features in the iPhone event in September.
