In an interview with reporters, Guo Yansheng, director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission's High-tech Department and director of the Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Technology Research Center, said that compared with traditional light sources, LED technology has two significant advantages: energy saving, environmental protection and controllability. In terms of energy saving and environmental protection, LED technology is 60% to 80% more energy efficient than traditional light sources. Looking back at history, every leap in human lighting technology has left a footprint in the history of the Expo. The large-scale application of LED technology in the Expo Park indicates that this technology is not far from people's lives. Guo Yansheng said that the Ministry of Science and Technology of China launched the Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Plans in 2004 to promote LED lighting in 21 cities in China. At present, Shanghai's municipal construction lighting has used LED technology extensively. The government is taking a number of measures to reduce the cost of LED lamps. He said, I believe that LEDs can enter thousands of households within three to five years.
In terms of scale, China is already a big LED industry country, but there is still a gap between China and international advanced technology in the technical field.
