According to reports, engineers at the Philips Research Institute have recently developed the first OLED module that can be directly powered by household AC.
The research results are regarded as an important step in the future of OLED popularization, because after AC power supply, OLED does not need a large and complex power management circuit to convert DC power, which makes the OLED screen simpler in construction. Manufacturing costs are lower and more flexible to use.
The OLED panel is lighter in weight and energy-saving because of its spontaneous optical rotation and no need for a backlight panel. Since OLEDs can emit multiple colors of light, they can also be used as pure light sources.
Philips was inspired by the LEDs powered by AC, so it began to try on OLED.
